But unfortunately the Submarine Voyage attraction, which featured these beautiful real-life mermaids, was closed in 1998. I can only wish that someday they would somehow bring this "voyage" back.
Being known as the most magical place on earth, of course the Disneyland would make such myths and legends to the real life. Disneyland-circa 1959 had actual mermaids who swam around the lagoon during the Submarine Voyage's attraction opening. Then the mermaids returned from the summer of 1965 to the summer of 1967. I was very much mesmerized and was in awe when I read a testimony of one of the girls who was actually one of the mermaids who worked throughout those 2 years (You can read the testimony here), and I've been growing this.. uncanny obsession and adoration towards the mermaids. They were breathtakingly beautiful. As a child growing up watching Disney films and cartoons, witnessing and watching an actual mermaid swim would be an absolute dream come true to me! Through this attraction I can honestly say that Walt Disney was yet-again-successful in building dreams and making dreams into reality. But unfortunately the Submarine Voyage attraction, which featured these beautiful real-life mermaids, was closed in 1998. I can only wish that someday they would somehow bring this "voyage" back.
